It’s not raining, but the sky overhead looks like it’s threatening to rip open and drench the city at any moment. A man in his late-thirties looks up at the dilapidated hospital building that had been shut down years ago. The Psychic had instructed him to bring his daughter here during the full moon… and though the sky was hiding it, it didn’t change that tonight was the night they were to meet whoever it was that would solve their issues.

A lamp light comes on from down the dirt road, causing the man and the woman sitting next to him to hold their breath. This was it; their troubles would soon be over. After what felt like the longest few minutes of his life, an elderly man came into view. He wore overalls and boots and looked like something out of an old horror movie where the kids had wondered onto the wrong farm property.

As the man approached, he cranked at the window to lower it. Before he could speak the man shoved the lamp into his face and leaned in, scowling as he looked over the husband and his wife… and then finally looked back at the young girl who was wrapped up in blankets in the back “State your business.” He said at last, his voice ragged from probable years of smoking.

“We were told we could find help if we came here… please, my daughter is very… sick. Can you help us?” he asked.

The man studied him for a few moments, his eyes flicking back to the girl in the back. She stared at him with half open green eyes that had sunken into her face. Her features were pale and she looked like what death would if it suddenly decided it no longer wanted to be that way “No, I can’t help you.” he told the girl’s father, looking back at him.

The woman gasped, her expression agonized “But! The Psychic said this was the place!  That Sammael could make her better!” she was exasperated and almost looked like she could pass as being sick as well from lack of sleep and worry for her daughter.

The man cleared his throat and made a sound that was obviously meant as a way to shut the woman up “I can’t help her, ‘cause I’m not Sammael.” He told her, before he stepped back and waved at the man to drive forward. The woman and her husband shared a look before he did as he was told, following the farmer was he open a gate and instructed him to pull up to the door of the hospital. The man stepped out of the car, followed by his wife, and opened the back seat to pull out the girl, holding her protectively to his chest as the older man stepped up to the entrance “Wait here.” He told the family, before he vanished inside.

The girl’s father had a bad feeling, but he kept it to himself as he looked down at the 16 year old in his arms. The girl is small, even for her gender, and even more so due to the sickness. She’d lost several pounds over the last several months and the doctors had told them they had no idea what was wrong. They’d spent money on the top notch professionals just to be told by a woman who’d been merely passing through that they were looking for help in the wrong places.

He told her that everything would be fine as the farmer came back out and waved them in “Watch your step. Head down the hall and go down that stairwell; Sammael will meet you at the bottom.” He told them, just a hint of a crooked grin brushing his features before he turned and headed out of the building. The girl’s father clutched her closer to his chest as he looked down the corridor, hesitating as his wife grabbed his upper arm and held on. She was frightened, her eyes darting from side to side as if she expected something to come out of the darkness.

He finally began to pick his way, going slowly with his eyes trained on the stairwell ahead. The hallway was dark, lit only by the faint light that came in from the windows. Shadows danced in the corner of his eyes and every so often he turned his head, thinking that someone had just been standing there. In the door way. In the front of that window. He told himself it was just his imagination, but he knew better than to scoff at the belief of ghosts. His wife let out a little squeal next to him and she turned to look behind her instantly, hand over her mouth.

“What’s wrong, Brigit?” he asked quietly.

“I thought… I felt something grab me. Herold, I-I… I want to go wait outside in the car.” She whined, looking back at him with tears threatening her eyes. He let out a breath and turned to face her.

“Shhh, it’s just your imagination. Our daughter needs us… she needs us to be with her and help her through this. Come on, we can do this.” He told her, his voice reassuring as he continued his way down the hall.

At last the pair reached the stairwell. He adjusted his daughter, getting a better hold on her as he shifted her to one arm and used the other to hold onto the railing. His wife travelled slowly behind him, looking behind every so often in paranoia. Below a light was flickering in a way that was probably meant to help guide them to the spot where their alleged savior would be; Waiting to instruct them on how they were to take care of the situation they had been in for years. He stepped off of the final step with his wife coming quickly up to his side and looked around attentively.

“…I don’t see him, where is he?” the woman asked, feeling more and more unsettled as the light flashed on and off in no particular pattern.

All at once she screamed. The girl’s father turned abruptly and looked at his wife, startled by her sudden outburst “What?! What’s going on?”

Brigit moved around him and hid “I felt it again! I felt someone tug on my clothes! I’m not imagining it! I’m not!” she sobbed, gripping the back of his shirt.

A chuckle sounded behind them and the two of them turned to face whatever had made the sound. Lights flicker black. Flicker back on, nothing there. Flicker black, flicker on. Lights go off, and as if appearing out of nowhere suddenly a boy is standing in front of them as the lights came back on, staying on. He’s grinning as the wife screams and the man takes a frightened step back and gasps. Bridgit turns to run back up the steps but just before she does so the boy vanishes and reappears at the top of the staircase, causing her to stop and almost fall backwards.

“Hey, where’s the fire? I thought you were looking for me?” the boy sneers… only he wasn’t a boy, at least not a fully human one. He had a good several inches on the older man, greyish tan skin, blue hair, and, strangest of all, the ears and tail of a feline. He stepped down the stairs casually towards the woman who retreated back down and behind her husband once more.

Herold cleared his throat, feeling it tighten in fear as he watched this human like creature come closer “Y-you’re Sammael?!” he gaps, looking over this thing. He looked human enough, aside from the animal features, and more or less he could pass for a teenager. He was shirtless, showing off his oddly colored skin and a mess of tribal tattoos that decorated the right side of his body. His blue hair fell in curls over prominent collar bones and an odd necklace hung around his neck, kept on by a tattered leather cord.

Sammael jumped down from the third to last step and landed in front of them, causing the woman to squeak. The father pulled his daughter closer in an attempt to protect her from this unknown boy but it only served to draw his attention to her at once. He tilted his head, the corner of his mouth tugging up into a little grin as he looked down at the half-awake form “Ah, so she’s the one who’s been tampered with…” he mutters, lifting his hand to brush hair away from her face. Instantly her father pulled her back and snarled at him not to touch her.

He looked up at him with cocked brows, merely amused “Well Sir, you’re just going to have to deal with it if you want me to help her. She’ll require… hands on attention from me if I’m gonna get rid of the Spirits that have taken up residency inside her.” He tells him, his tone light but serious.

“How did you know she’s possessed?” the man demanded, not letting his guard down just yet as he cradled his daughters limp body.

The boy waved the question away like it was ridiculous to even ask him such a thing “I just can. Now, we can’t take all night. Do you want me to help her or not?” he asked, his gaze flicking to the pale form. His lips pulled up into another smile as his eyes fell on her once more.

The way he stared at her made her father uncomfortable and he was hesitant to relinquish her fragile form over to him. He pulled away a little as the boy held out his arms, willing the man to let him take her from him, but stopped when his wife squeezed his shoulder. Halfheartedly he released his daughter and offered her over to the strange boy, watching him closely as he held her bridal style in his arms and motioned with his head for the couple to follow him. They trailed after him, Herold skeptical, prepared to take on this thing if he did anything he didn’t approve of.

They came to a stop at the end as Sammael turned to the pair, looking towards a small room with a window that over looked a larger one “Go in there and wait… and, whatever you do, do not leave that room.” The look he took on as he spoke was dark, and the dread that filled the couple wasn’t anything but slight.

They retreated into the room as Sammael pulled the door shut. As an extra precaution he whispers a small enchantment, causing the doorway to illuminate for a split second, before smiling to himself and whisking the girl off into the next room that the window oversaw.

It was dark aside from the soft light that poured in from the basement windows from outside. From what one could see, candles littered the floor and the table tops. In the middle of the room, drawn in whitish blue chalk, a large cult-like symbol served as the centerpiece of it all. Sammael looked down at the girl in his arms, who’d remained as silent as a mouse ever since she’d arrived in the building, and tilted his head in a quiet smirk “Well, cutie… I know you’re not feel’n too well right now but could you stand on your own for sec?” he asked, already carefully setting her down. She gripped him feebly as he helped her steady herself on the ground “Can you tell me your name, girly?” he asked, hesitating to let go of her until he was sure she wouldn’t collapse on herself if he did.

She lifted her chin the best she could, her body trembling lightly, more from her illness than from fear, as she met his eyes “Mieka…” she mumbles.

Sammael bites the inside of his cheek, the corners of his mouth remaining hitched up in a smile that was forever plastered across his face “Mieka, huh…? Well Mieka, I’m Sammael, and I’m gonna make sure you won’t have to suffer with this any longer, sound good?” he chuckled, his eyes widening a little as if a hunger had filled him suddenly. But he took himself away too quickly for the girl to really register it, taking up a book of matches and lighting a single candle. He put out the match and muttered something under his breath before slowly leaning forward and blowing on the flame. Instead of going out, a domino effect took place, causing the rest of the candles in the room to alight in a wave.

Mieka’s eyes widened for a moment as the room lit up. At once she could see the rest of the room’s décor and she felt something wiggling inside her. The Spirits were becoming restless as she saw the walls, littered with unrecognizable text that had been carved into the concrete. She swallowed and almost instantly her legs buckled under her. She heard a muffled gasp come from the window behind her as she went down… but before she hit the floor she felt arms under her. Sammael chuckled quietly against her ear “I’ve got you, girly… no need to get weak in the knees for me,” he said as he helped her to standing, letting her grip his arm so that she wouldn’t lose her balance.

She gave him a dark look, clearly not liking the way he was speaking to her. But he was greatly enjoying himself despite her obvious discomfort. He ignored the look “Ready to get this over with?”

“As I’ll ever be…” she told him meekly. But there was a hint of annoyance in it as well.

He bit his lip to keep from chuckling “In order for this ritual to work, I’m going to have to ask you to be uncomfortable. You’re going to need to undress.”

A look of pure alarm flashed through her eyes and they shot towards the window where her mom and dad were watching them nervously, but he hadn’t said it loud enough for her parents to hear “What?!” she asked.

He balanced for a moment on the balls of his bare feet, looking down at her with a look like all of this was just thoroughly entertaining “You see, when I remove your Ghostie, it’s going to be looking for anything in reach to grasp onto… and clothes will just serve as something that could potentially cause everything to go wrong. You’ll need to undress… completely, and remove any jewelry.” He tells her all of this in a voice like she probably thought he was joking. But he wasn’t.

She looked towards her parents again, who’d obviously caught it this time. Her father had stepped forward to pound on the window “You SICK pervert! Get away from my daughter!” he snarled before turning to go to the door… but it wouldn’t open. This only served to cause him to get even more irate. He started shouting vulgar language from the room, threatening to break the window and come in there and hurt the boy.

But none of it was fazing him. He laughed and leaned within Mieka’s line of sight again “I know it’ll be awkward, but it’s what needs to be done…” he tells her, his features softening a little. The girl was suddenly nervous, as anyone would be, as she looked up at him.

She swallowed “I have to?”

“If you want me to help, yes.” He tells her.

She sighed. Behind Sammael her father was still cursing, telling her that the boy was just trying to play them, that he only wanted his way with her. Her mother was trying to calm down her husband, obviously a little more understanding.

It took several moments before she finally nodded “Dad!” she called, looking around him towards the window. Herold stopped, looking at his daughter in shock at her raised voice; she shook her head and looked towards the boy, finally going to pull off her shirt. Sammael turned away from her, figuring he’d give her the privacy of undressing while he crossed to the room to a table that was cleared of any candles. He took up a bowl and began to stir whatever was in it, adding a pinch of this and that to it as the girl behind him stripped.

He could sense her Spirits. He knew that they weren’t too powerful… at least not by his standards. He mixed what would be needed to rid her of them, chanting something to himself in order to give the mixture its power.

When he turned around he stopped for only a moment to take in the bare form. The corner of his mouth tilted up… this was a requirement but he’d never deny he didn’t enjoy this part of his job. She was covering herself with her arms and attempting to keep her lower regions hidden from him with the use of her thighs. It only served to make her look… more adorable. In his youth this would have been enough to send him into an arousal… but he’d grown out of that… mostly. He wished this girl would have sought him out on her own, instead of bringing along her useless parents. He glanced at them, deeply amused by the rage on her father’s face and the disgust on her mother’s.

He moved forward, holding the bowl in one hand and using a finger on the other to stir the contents. Once in front of her he lifted his finger, hesitating for a moment while she flinched, and drew a symbol on her chest. She pulled away, but stopped when he told her to stand still. He drew another on her forehead before kneeling down to put the bowl on the ground. He then stood, and in an instant, swept her off her feet.

She squealed and pathetically tried to push him away for a moment, only to stop as he explained his reasoning “Don’t move. From now until this is over, you must remain perfectly still. I will arrange your limbs to the required position… and then I’ll begin to draw on your skin,” he couldn’t suppress his smirk “I promise I’ll be careful, doll.” He tells her in a low voice so her parents wouldn’t hear the perverse remark.

She gasped and made a sour face, unhappy “Stop calling me those stupid names.” She told him.

He didn’t comment, simply snickered as he lays her in the middle of the symbol.

It was over within the next 20 minutes. He went about the ritual fluidly and soon enough he was leaning down to lift her and carry her away from the circle “What will happen to the spirits?” she asked warily, looking about the room in fear.

“They’ll be released into the building, weakened by my spells. They won’t be able to latch onto anything for a good long time. You’re safe now.” He tells her, setting her down on the floor next to her clothes so she could redress. A moment later the door to the room they’re in flies open and her father stalks angrily towards him. Sammael ducks just as the man tries to take a swing at him and in the next instant he’s vanished. A faint laugh is heard around the room “Come and visit me again soon, Dollface~” his voice echoes as her father tries without success to command him to come out and show his perverted face.
Been in an art block recently but a flash of writing inspiration came to me yesterday. I've been wanting to start a story between these two for a while not, on that's been going on in my head for a couple years, and decided I'd try to start it.

Think of this as like... a prologue. <:
